Default NHL Draft Is a Week Away; Who Do You Want???

Here are my preferred draft picks for the Pens in the First and Second rounds; with our blue line depth, all are Forwards.

    -Round 1

    --Joel Armia, RW, Finland
--Brandon Saad, LW, USA and Western Pa
    --Tyler Biggs, RW, USA

    Round 2

    --Lucas Lessio, LW
    --Alexander Khoklechev, C
    --Adam Lowry, RW

    Weigh in with your choice/selections/suggestions.

Tomas Jurko, because We need a stud winger and he's a big strong guy with good hands who can skate well.

Schemes shouldn't be employed to cover weaknesses, but to enhance team strengths.

Almost put him there, but he's not among the top 25 (first round talent), yet likely will be gone when we draft in the Second, but he's a good choice.

A winger or 2 that don't project to be an AHL/4th line type like (Conner, Wallace, Jeffrey)

    I hone
stly have very little knowledge on the NHL draft. Once we stopped drafting in the Top 5 and then started trading upper picks away I lost interest in who was who and become intereasted after we make our picks to see what we got.

So please... provide as much info as possible on draft picks. Usually Xterratu does this thing but I think he's caught up with the toronto Maple Leafs stuff

I'll work on it as long as you keep the Bucs winning.

The height of the "Honor to the Kipper" statute on my front lawn and the "Kip Face" my sculptor has begun carving is drawing intense interest from my neighbors, who all happen to be Skins, Nats, Caps or Ravens fans!!

So far, I've told them that, "Everyone in Pittsburgh has ba*** that large."

IMO, if you can get a power forward who can play in the NHL in the next season or two, take him. If not, take the best player available, regardless of position.

Here are small profiles on the top 60 players, from whom I assume the Pens will pick two.

Like Kipper, I am also very unfamiliar with this year's draft. I do know a little bit about Brandon Saad as he is from a stone's throw away from me, so I've been keeping track of him.

He can be a stud, but I worry about him being the next Jordan Staal (not just because he has consecutive a's in his last name ) in that he has a big frame that he might not want to use to his advantage.

The next Aleksey Morozov could be another (or even better) comparison in that he could have all the skill, but just not want to use it all the time, which would get very frustrating.

I hate to say that about a local boy. Would love to see him succeed, especially in a Penguins uniform. There's no qustion the kid's got skills, but I have some doubts about him.

Apparently so do others--who toil in NHL managements--since, he could slip out of the first round.

The Pens will get a talented winger in ! and possibly 2, but who knows how they or any of the draft picks will play and if they will succeed, which is why all drafts are called "crap shoots."

Trusting in Shero though and I would love to see him sign Jagr.

Right now, let me save Shero some breath by saying what he will say, after they choose in Round 2.

"We were really surprised to see _______(fill in the blank with some kid's name) there, when we chose in the Second and we didn't wait long to grab him! He's a player."

The more I read about him, the more I like Tyler Biggs. I'm not ready to commit to him yet, which is why I'm glad it's not my job.

As of now, I have it down to Biggs and Saad, but I have big doubts about both.

You could have knocked me over with a feather when they chose D man in 1 and 2, but that's why I'm retired and playing with my grandchildren and not running a hockey team!

I don't get it either, and one of the D men they drafted was rated 98th among North American skaters I heard. I guess they saw something in him that most have not?

There are very few sure things in hockey. You have to find guys that you think you can develop via your system. It doesn't shock me at all when they draft someone well ahead of the projection. Its not the NFL.
