Default Jeff Carter traded to Blue Jackets

    http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=369793

Jeff Carter has been told he's been traded from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In exchange for Carter, the Flyers are expected to receive Jakub Voracek, plus first and third round draft picks.

Carter, who has 11-years remaining on contract that will have a cap hit of just over $5.272 million will give the Blue Jackets a much needed scorer to play along side their captain Rick Nash.

Last season, Carter contributed 36 goals and 66 points, he also had two points in six playoff games as the Flyers were eliminated by the Boston Bruins in the first round.

By dealing Carter, the Flyers have likely opened up enough cap space to sign recently acquired goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, who is set to become a free agent on July 1.

The Flyers acquired the rights to the 30-year-old Bryzgalov, two weeks ago in a deal with the Phoenix Coyotes. Philadelphia shipped over a third-round draft pick in 2012, forward Matt Clackson and future considerations.

    More details to follow.

Neither seem like great deals for the Flyers either unless they plan on revamping the team in Free Agency???

Who exactly is available in Free Agency that they would replace these 2 with?

How do you replace that enormous amount of ******bag that Mike Richards leaves? Flyers fans will revolt if they don't have at least 1 or 2 players per line whose best skill is being an ******* on skates

so the Flyers deal their top goal scorer for a 30 year old goalie long term not to mention play behind a defense that is getting old.

Not sure how their cap looks but wonder if there's enough to sign brad richards?

Yep, Brad Richards is who they are targeting.

Now that Philly's cut their losses, maybe Shero will cut his and trade Staal!!!

I'm happy for the Blue Jackets... I think Carter will be a nice addition. Now if CBJ can shore up their defense with someone other than a guy with "****" in his last name, they may make some noise out west.

the flyers are showing that you can trade anyone to get pieces you feel fit and help the team more.

unfortunately its the flyers and they dont win **** so its tough to use them as an example as to why we should trade this or that player

Yeah, but I kinda commend the Flyers for having the balls to move some popular players. The NHL is a results league and it appears the Flyers were looking at "Return on Investment". Carter and Richards are good players, but maybe not worth what the Flyers were paying them. We'll see how it turns out.

True. They've now failed for quite a few seasons with these players, time to move on. We'll see if this gamble works for them. Starting off overpaying for a 30 year goalie isnt a good way
