Looks like I'm gonna head down for the Rams game. My Xmas present to myself. My buddy and I are looking at that, then get back for the family festivities at a reasonable time!
I can do a pretty good impression of Gilbert, but then I can't talk for about a week.

I think Ben has a good 3 years at least left and drafting a QB now would be far too early. Plus Im one that doesnt believe you can find certain QB talent after the 1st round. We need to draft a QB in the 1st.

when it comes to backups, i want an experienced guy, which is why I always hated cowher and then tomlin drafting backups. I liked Tomzcak, Maddox, Batch. Never needed Tee Martin, Dennis Dixon, Brian St.Pierre and the rest of the wasted draft picks
The point that I'm sure you have pegged is that it might be useless to do anything while Airheadians is still OC.

I'd be good with a competent vet backup. Perhaps that would be a better way to go. Fond memories of Tomzcak, Maddox and Batch!

Unless Arians decides to retire, I don't see him going anywhere. 2 Super Bowl visits, all of Ben's records in the passing game, the Steelers yardage accomplishments under him and our navigation from a run oriented game management team to a more spread offense 60% passing team that is actually keeping up with how the league is transforming rather than being behind the times (like Chuck Noll's 1980's teams were) ... love or hate him... Arians resume looks better to everyone that isn't a fan in Steeler Nation

My personal issues with Arians anymore are solely with the red zone offense. I feel that his play calling there is poor. Overthinking at times, predictable at other times. Bruce runs a good Offense betwen the 20's

So I wouldn't think about not drafting a QB while Arians is here, I just feel like Ben has more than enough left in the tank unless some big injury takes him out. I also wouldn't draft a QB just to draft one either. If there's no QB worth drafting that we are completely old on when that time comes, I'd go and sign some vet as a stop gap until we find "our guy". To me that felt like the Steelers plan when they drafted Ben. They didn't draft QB's that they coud've drafted because they realoly weren't that good, they just waited until they found one they liked and went with tommy Maddox (vet). I hope they do this again (when the time comes )

Haven't read all the posts in this thread. Just got back from my Steeler's bar, but suffice it to say I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Early possessions for the Bungles gave them terrific field position and after the FG block, they just realized a win today just wasn't going to happen.

Regarding Ben, maybe only Rodgers is better. I still take Ben over Brady. But I see that the conversation on drafting a QB has been brought up again. I think it is incumbent on the Steelers to draft a QB. Not because Ben is being pushed out. Quite the opposite, actually. Ben has at least 3-5 years left at playing at the elite level. But if he gets hurt, which is very possible, the Steelers need that elite 2nd tier QB to step in. Batch is too old and likely retires, Dixon isn't good enough and just signing a QB who is on life support doesn't appeal to me at all.

This team is just plain good and I fully expect to see them in another SB.

I don't think anyone can complain about Arians this year. The Steelers have really opened it up this year, and the playcalling in my opinion has been very good. Plus, their red zone stats this year are very good. I forget the stats aired during tv, but it was something like 33 out of 38 times in the red zone they scored. I think Arians is getting the job done just fine.

I also think Ben has another 5 years left in the tank. .. .easily.
