The *OFFICIAL* 2012 Pitt Panthers Football Thread, The Chryst Era Begins.
2011 was one [insert any word you think describes it] season for the Pittsburgh Panthers football squad. Not only did we have two coaches in one year, went 7-5 when some were expecting a Big East crown, and lost Ray Graham for the second half of the year, but found them selves playing in the BBVA Compass Bowl and have to have named a 4th head coach in 12 months. But don't expect that again. Bringing Paul Chryst was a good move, as he led a high-power offensive team to their 2nd consecutive Rose Bowl, with 5-star players such as NC-State transfer Russell Wilson and Heisman- Finalist Monte Ball. Could we see the same this year with Ray Graham? And don't forget the defense. Expect it to be powerful this year. And, could we see a BCS bowl this year? So below is the 2012 season schedule, and I will continue to post updates here as well. I will try to get a Panthers Football Game-Day Thread maybe, or we'll just use this. Leave a post and Hail To PITT! Note: I will update schedule when TV/Time, any week-day games, or flex schedules are announced.

It would be a shame if we dont get the Big East title considering how weak our conference is [Rutgers, Louisville, USF, UCon, Cincy, Syracuse], since Boise State doesn't join until 2013. Heck, I'm not really afraid of em not as much I as was before due to the loss of Kellen Moore. But if the game comes down to a FG, we win automatically.

When is Pitt starting in the ACC?... I thought next year, hence the buyout... But I may be mistaken (and probably am).

I've heard they might be stuck in the Big East for one more year and then, when the other teams join the following year, the Big East will likely let them go. WVU is trying real hard to get in the Big 12...10 next year, but the Big East is resisting. Money talks, so if either Pitt or WVU want out now, it's just a matter of how much they want to pay the Big East to leave early.

Thanx.... Just wondering how soon they would be playing in my backyard down here (at Clemson), as I really can't wait for them to get started in the ACC... Hell, I can drive my boat to the marina at the stadium, park & tailgate, then take my boat back home... All without hitting the road at all...

... If Pitt AND WVU remain, then it's still gonna be tough for them next season in the Big East IMO... Who knows..."The Difference Between Adventure And Ordeal Is Attitude" - Jimmy Buffett

I hope WVU would join the ACC. The Backyard Brawl is just to good to loose. All the 100 years of this great rivalry lost to the stupid 2011 Conference Realignment.

The only thing that i want to see next year is Chryst not act and speak like some sort of idiot ****. I fell, hook line and sinker for the **** that came out of Grahams mouth in the beginning. Now im bitter and offended by all coaches. So, much like the team i guess Chryst is going to half to prove himself to me. Its not even going to be about the record its how he comes across and what he is going to do to during this upcoming year to grow the team and improve it in his second year.

The thing to me is our SOS. C'mon. Y-State and Buffalo? Bring in WVU (they should do that each year) and an ACC team to be ready for what 2014+ has for us. Maybe Clemson or Georgia Tech. Just improve our SOS. How are we to make it in any Top 25 if we play teams like Y-State and Buffalo? Heck, we almost lost to an FCS team (Maine; 35-29 or something). Talk bout "High Octane".
