Rename Beaver Stadium

If PSU wants to make things right, rename the stadium to JoePa Stadium.

I think renaming the stadium would be the last thing that he would want..He always said that he wanted to be remembered as an educator first

Why's it called that anyway? Both its time and meaning have been lost to history, like Fenway Park.

Its named after Governor Beaver (late 1800s) and president of the University (early 1900s)

Penn State: The only university where the football stadium is named after a school president and the library is named for a football coach.

JoePa Stadium just sound dumb, like "sunlife stadium"

Something like "Paterno Memorial Stadium" would work. I'm sure some traditionalists would whine at first but it's not like the stadium is being renamed to corporate title.

I think that if they do change it, it'll be "Beaver-Paterno Stadium", similar to the way Bama did with Bryant-Denny Stadium. There's was always Denny Stadium until 1976 when they attached Bryant's name to it.

..on another note, sorry I went overboard with grief, anger, and sadness yesterday on a couple other threads...I deleted what I deemed inappopriate....I loved JoePa as much as my school and this past 2+ months of hell I can't keep arguing about....Franco carries the torch...

You shoulda let it stand Ran. We, PSU folks, were all emotional the last few days. We all have different ways of showing it, that's all.

Yesterday I was absently numb...Today I called off work, curled up with a bottle of Old Grandad "Joes favorite and I dont know why". Ive been watchig nonstop highlight games from my own library/Big Ten Netwoork/ESPN Classic....Tomorrow we will see, but Im taking this very hard...I have several family/Alumni flying in tomorrow AM...We will make the pilgrimage but doubt we will be able to make any of the organized events

...wish I was doing the same things, air....I thought about making the trip up to State College but will not...wanted to call out today too, but didn't...just trying to stay on my normal routine as tough as it is to do,..,.

I was fortunate and lucky. I was able to get tickets to the memorial on Thursday.
