Probably a good decision by 1250. Eddie Crow is terrible. He was always terrible and was no more of a "sports guy" for DVE's morning show back in the day than Al Roker is a legit meteorolgist for the Today Show.

Crow and is crew were getting hammered by Madden and they're right, they have no distinctive voice or personality in that slot. with Starkey now coming in for competetion... The Drive is going to get killed. Time for 1250 to revamp that group.

I understand why he might not be a favorite and he's not someone who I'd go out of my way to catch on the radio, but I liked his dry humor approach.

It wasn't a bad approach but then again if I'm going to choose between 2 guys that think they are funny and don't know much about sports, I'm going to choose Mark Madden because at least he's entertaining. Crow lacked far too much and ended up getting annoying (not like Madden doesn't).

If you want to battle Mark Madden you have to go in the opposite spectrum. Stay away from large humor and the howard Stern schitck and Starkey has that ability because he's got actual sports knowledge that madden could only dream of. Crow had neither Madden's schtick or Starkey's sports knowledge... which kind of left you with a guy that was useless

Haha. I went to Chris Mack's wedding, but I never actually met him. I really don't even remember why I ended up there or who he married that I kind of knew, I just remember laughing when I saw that it was Chris Mack.

To be honest Crow wasn't even the weak link of "The Drive". Paulsen and Logan don't really bring anything to the table either. There really isn't anything interesting or entertaining about any one of those guys. Just getting rid of one of them isn't going to help anything if the other two are still around.

I can agree with that. It really lacked a lead voice though. A true lead voice for that show might be able to milk the others. A smart, intelligent sports guy can make Paulsen's stand up routine work because then it would be a nice contrast and Logan could work in a bouncing off way... Crow was like a ****ty center on a hockey team, he didn't make the guys around him good or better I think he made them worse

Mark Madden is entertaining. He does know his hockey(dont always agree with his opninions. Dont like the format either butit gets the ratings. Starkey will put a small dent into Maddens ratings but 1250 & 970 will take a bigger hit

Madden is entertaining. I agree which is why you can't battle him with an "entertainment" type format. He's been on air for too long and has too much name and loyalty. The Entertainment market is pretty much his.

Starkey should put a slight dent in Madden and the others. I don't think anything outside of longevity and continued growth is going to overtake Madden.

And Madden doesn't know **** about hockey. He was a Dek Hockey coach anyone that plays dek Hockey knows you don't need a coach

Madden knows hockey...he may not be an X & O guy, but he follows the NHL. Most of the rest of the Pgh media does not know jack. I coach a hockey team(not Deck)but I dont know much about NHL players, particularly the Western Conference players

I have to admit, I was happy to hear this news. Mike Logan should be next.
I couldn't stand Crow or Logan because anytime anyone brought up the Pirates each of these morons would start complaining because they traded NYJER FREAKING MORGAN!!!!!
I remember Crow specifically angry because he had just bought a Morgan jersey when he was traded. He should have just put it in a pile with the Tike Redman, Adrian Brown, Chris Duffy and Jermain Allensworth jersies. If he was dumb enough to buy Morgan's I assume he had all of the half-a-season wonder center-fielder/ leadoff hitters of the future
