Re: Colby Armstrong, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Raffi Torres, Ray Whitney?
Yeah right I know I forgot about Armstrong completely until we are in teh thick of things here then his name comes up as is tradition now

I am interested in either Whitney or Ponikarovsky. Either way I would be happy.
I think it is just a rumor but I have heard that Whitney want to come here specifically. If there is any truth to that I would like to see it. You just feel like a guy will play his balls off when he gets to play for the team of his choosing.

I would love Armstrong back on this team.
You imagine how many shots he could stop with his beak?

Poni and Whitney yes, torres and armstrong no. If they want to sign armstrong in free agency without trading thats fine. Anything else would be a waste. And i have never been a fan of torres, why would we want another grinder on this team?

“It’s a game of emotion, it’s a game of hard work.
It’s a game of passion, Kovalchuk, what he did the other day – there’s not one guy who was close to doing something. Maybe Maxime Talbot at the end with one second left. Hes about 5ft8 pfft"

Re: Colby Armstrong, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Raffi Torres, Ray Whitney?
We don'y which is what makes Armstrong useless. Torres is sort of attractive cause he can skate top 6 and give you that grit with a little touch that Talbot was "supposed" to give us this year on Geno's line or play 3rd line.
I'm not opposed to a guy like that for cheap. Armstrong stinks

I think the Kovalchuk deal forces Shero's hand--if he wasn't planning on making a splash acquisition--and makes him go for....Whitney (at whatever price) and a D-Man (maybe the big kid who always plays for Carolina), sending GoGo, someone from WB and a "second round pick."

Re: Colby Armstrong, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Raffi Torres, Ray Whitney?
Some of you people need to lay off Gogo, he seriously is becoming the next whitney for some of you. He is a second round pick who is doing everything and more than can be asked for from a guy like him. This is his first full season in the NHL and some of you guys are acting like he is supposed to be better than Gonchar RIGHT NOW for some reason. give him some ****ing time, he was playing out of his mind before his injury this year. Gogo isn't the problem right now, Kovalchuk is.
PS- Gonchar is a -4 right now for those of you who continually insist Gonchar is our best defensive defenseman...tied with Martin Skoula for worst on the team among defensemen.Last edited by BGK; Feb-06-2010 at 02:36 AM.

Typically +/- numbers are a reflection of total team play by those on the ice at any particular time. They don't tell the entire story of any individual's play.
Ovechkin is a +37, and we all know what a defensive stalwart he is.

Re: Colby Armstrong, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Raffi Torres, Ray Whitney?
Ovechkin is a +37 because he is always pushing the offense...other teams are always backing up and trying to defend rather than attack. that is why he is a +37. The best defense is a good offense.
The +/- system is a lot more accurate than people who don't find it useful to defend their point want to believe. The only player in the NHL more overpaid than MAF is Jordan Staal
