(WASHINGTON, Pa.)---The Thomas More College baseball team defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 2-1, today (Saturday, May 15, 2010) to win the Presidents' Athletic Cofnerence Championship Tournament for the first time school history at Ross Memorial Park in Washington, Pennsylvania.
With the win, the Saints improve to 31-14 and earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. With the loss, the Presidents fall to 32-11 and must wait until Monday (May 17) to see if the NCAA Division III Baseball Committee awards them an at-large bid to the championship.
Freshman David Etscheid (Union, Ky./Ryle) pitched five and two-third innings to earn the win as he gave up five hits, while senior Kyle Wewe (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) went one and one-third innings to earn his sixth save of the season."The Difference Between Adventure And Ordeal Is Attitude" - Jimmy Buffett
