CEC's First National Anthem
Just for ****s and giggles: Who do you think should sing the National Anthem before the home opener at Consol Energy Center?

Jimerson and if it's not, that would be a shame. He's the "voice" for the Pens as an anthem singer. I think if you polled every Pens fan it would be overwhelmingly in favor of Jimerson. Football and Baseball don';t really have "regulars" that sing, it's kind of cool that the Pens have that with Jeff Jimerson

Re: CEC's First National Anthem
I'm thinking it's gotta be someone big, and it's gotta be someone from Pittsburgh. The most obvious answer that comes to mind is Christina Aguliera. But she's been the go to celebrity for big games in the 'Burgh. I'm not a big fan of hers, and I don't know if she's really into the Penguins anyway.
I thought Donnie Iris would be a great choice, but he's only still famous in Pittsburgh.
Jackie Evancho, the ten year old opera sensation from "America's Got Talent" would be an excellent choice, but I'm not sure if she'll be such a big deal anymore on October 7.
My choice has got to be Bret Michaels. He's as popular as ever....maybe even more than his Poison days....and he is a Pens fan. I think his recent survival of a near fatal experience also makes him a good candidate. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure someone will think of a good intro for him, to make him sound like just as much of a hero as the players about to take the ice....someone who overcame the odds, and came back better than ever!

Re: CEC's First National Anthem
I dunno El Sid... I mean, yeah they could go any direction they wanted but what benefit do they get out of a big name singer? It's not extra promotion or anything. If you're doing it for the fans, the fans would rather see and hear Jimerson.
I dunno, I guess I just don't see the draw of someone not named jeff Jimerson. If it were the Steelers or Pirates... sure they could pick from a ton of people but Jimerson has become iconic. Not quite like a Mike Lange but iconic in his own way with the fans.
they could definitely go with any of the above mentioned people you stated and I wouldn't be surprised .... just disapointed

I voted for Jimerson, but I may have given strong consideration to either Ivan Hlinka or Dominic Hasek if either was an option.
